It's hasn't rained much but they just opened the spillways. I go over one twice a day. It was a trip at first but the water has leveled. La been great. The refineries have kept me very busy. Just completed my second turn around this year. I made it past layoff again. Working a hot son of a B cat cracker. Cooking at about 1200 degrees. Outer skin at about 400degrees. Tear down is a melting experience. But is't all good. Got my first taste of cup lock. Damn thats some heavy material. I've never seen it's equal as far as strength. It also looks good when your done. It takes a scaffold builder to understand that last line. Everyone else would say "What?" Got to roll. Build High, Build Strong. Paul
Things in Indiana are great for scaffold builders thanks to the Whiting Refinery Modernization Project (BP). The company I work for Solid Platforms INC. has about 600 scaffold builders on this job alone. We have people from all over, but most are from within the Northern Indiana/ Chicagoland area!
i am the author of the Carpenters Train the Trainer Scaffold program, for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters International Union..... from the start of our training push we have now trained just over 400 000 students.
I am great sill missing the rush of the trade but I made a home in the Marines they let me play with explosives and what not. Other than that I am great married with a little girl living in california for the last 5 years. Hope all is good with you and thanks for your apprciation.

Justin,
Apparently we know a lot of the same people. I am working as a superintendent for the Safway Phoenix branch with Tom Renfro. He told me some interesting stories from "back in the day". I have also worked with Mike Cisneros and Anthony Gallegos for a few years. It's nice to be on the site. I tried to fax over my resume to Marty Carlson today without any luck. I don't know if it was a problem with my fax or his but I will try again tomorrow. I met Mr. Carlson when he was the Birmingham BM a couple of years ago. I am trying to get back into a safety position specializing in the scaffold industry.
Better day today, finished one scaffold and improved anouther. We did not through anything into the water and it was a glorious 63 degrees. Valdez when it is pretty is stunning, when it is rainy (most of the time) it just is not nice. Now I can focus on my other duties, sheet metal, and insulation.
Any suggestions re: favorite tools, tool tethers?
Scott
