Hi DEAR! You beat me to the comment! I was going to remind you..."...dear, dear...PAM! There's a dear in the road, I'm not calling you dear!" Meanwhile 13 sleeping heads behind us sway sharply to the right and following the immediate jerk back to the left, they either bounced off windows or someone else's shoulder!" Good times, good times. = )
Thank you Justin, and yes it is cold and dumping snow, LOL!
When I have a little time I will look at the site more, but I do want you to know that I am impressed so far and when I have a chance I will upload some photo`s of some of our work.
I has been a long time buddy. I have been good, just trying to get this Denver thing going. You know how that goes.It takes time, but I think that I got it starting to turn. The kids are great and big now 8 & 9.
Are you going to the Wheatland Bid Meeting? If you are I will see you there.
I hope thing are going good for you and your family
It good hearing from you keep in touch.
I like the site. Seems like old times with all the familiar faces. Enjoying a typical slow winter. I think I might have chosen the wrong line of work for steady employment. Take care.
As old as I am I think I've work with all of it at some point. T&C came first. WOW Sept 09 made 27 years. When I first went to Denver my youngest kid was about 1 year old now I have 1 younger than that one and she will be 19 this month. I sent them to colledge and I will be working for the next 27 years.
Happy New Year Justin!
Here are a couple of links for our Occupational Health and Safety legislation, if you are interested in comparing what you have in the States. I expect that it is much the same. I will try to find the link for free access to the Canadian Standard Association Z97-09, as well. It is new and I am not as familiar with it as its predessesor, CAN/CSA-269.2 M87. http://employment.alberta.ca/documents/WHS/WHS-LEG_ohsc_2009.pdf http://employment.alberta.ca/SFW/3969.html
If there is a way to attach files to the site let me know and I'll see what I can dig up. I have a fairly decent library of manufacturer's specifications.
Cheers,
Mark
Yes, I have been at it quite some time now!!! Always new challenges though.. Keeps a man from being bored. Scaffolds are like works of art in many cases!!!!!!
i have tools and will travel, currently have resumes out across the country, and am hoping to be able to get in on all the scaffold work up in alberta canada, at fort mcmurray, appreciate any and all leads you might have, and i will let you know of any i come across as well.
no im to heavy to bounce these days. I barely fit in the hole. how are you and your family?
Intesting page; you got going here. i did not know richard ozuna was a scaffold builder lol
Thats funny I dont care who you are!!!!!!!!! Sure he is hasn't he ever showed you his ratchet muscle????? Family is okay, oldest turns 18 in November. I'm packing for him now so we dont have to wait. The other 2 teenagers keep my life pretty interesting and the little one just keeps his head down and out of the way.
aye everythings good this side of the pond apart from the weather i was waiting for my lift for work and i couldnt believe it it was close to white out with snow ,i couldnt complain tho i had a job inside on the nuclear power station that i work in ,is their any big jobs coming off soon?
hello justin how would i be able to get work on your side of the pond its nothing but doom and gloom at the moment with the resession on at the moment ,i was working in london up until last year on various projects but the work ran dry and i have had to come home and theres not a lot of good jobs on the go
Thank you, Justin. I am currently working off and on for the KC branch. I am only filling in where they need me, so work has not been that consistent lately. I was just researching scaffold builders to see if there were any outages that were about to start that I could travel to. If you hear of any nuclear or power plants that are in need of help, please let me know at your convenience. I have worked at various power plants including Sibley and Iatan, and I have been doing scaffolding for 2 1/2 years. I can pass a drug/alcohol test, a background check, I have no criminal record, and a good driving record as well.
Justin, I work for Patent in Georgia. We have no work down here in the south and I am needing to work. I will travel anywhere. If you know of anything please let me know. I am a Journeyman and also a foreman/leadman. Just wondering if you could help me out.
Thanks,
Jimmy Barnes
Thanks,
Had a day of throwing my tapes into the water today, Berth 5 Valdez terminal. Erecting a little 4'X30' platform suspended under the sump. Safway tube and clamp. Simple should have gone quickly but.....
No worries it will be there in the morning.
For what it is worth wages in Alaska are down, about $500 a week less than last year for me a bigger cut for others. Two years ago 7, 12hour days 10 weeks on two weeks off were common. Now 6 10 hrdays with 6 weeks on 2 weeks off. Laborers are at $24.49 now, full scale is $32.00 There are no carpenters working on the Trans Alaska Pipeline.
Good luck to all and keep your tapes dry!
Better day today, finished one scaffold and improved anouther. We did not through anything into the water and it was a glorious 63 degrees. Valdez when it is pretty is stunning, when it is rainy (most of the time) it just is not nice. Now I can focus on my other duties, sheet metal, and insulation.
Any suggestions re: favorite tools, tool tethers?
Scott
Justin,
Apparently we know a lot of the same people. I am working as a superintendent for the Safway Phoenix branch with Tom Renfro. He told me some interesting stories from "back in the day". I have also worked with Mike Cisneros and Anthony Gallegos for a few years. It's nice to be on the site. I tried to fax over my resume to Marty Carlson today without any luck. I don't know if it was a problem with my fax or his but I will try again tomorrow. I met Mr. Carlson when he was the Birmingham BM a couple of years ago. I am trying to get back into a safety position specializing in the scaffold industry.
Ok that will work fine no biggie! You work for patent i see wear you at right know? you on the east coast? I just finished a outtage up in chesterfield Virginia thank god!
I am great sill missing the rush of the trade but I made a home in the Marines they let me play with explosives and what not. Other than that I am great married with a little girl living in california for the last 5 years. Hope all is good with you and thanks for your apprciation.
i am the author of the Carpenters Train the Trainer Scaffold program, for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters International Union..... from the start of our training push we have now trained just over 400 000 students.
Things in Indiana are great for scaffold builders thanks to the Whiting Refinery Modernization Project (BP). The company I work for Solid Platforms INC. has about 600 scaffold builders on this job alone. We have people from all over, but most are from within the Northern Indiana/ Chicagoland area!
It's hasn't rained much but they just opened the spillways. I go over one twice a day. It was a trip at first but the water has leveled. La been great. The refineries have kept me very busy. Just completed my second turn around this year. I made it past layoff again. Working a hot son of a B cat cracker. Cooking at about 1200 degrees. Outer skin at about 400degrees. Tear down is a melting experience. But is't all good. Got my first taste of cup lock. Damn thats some heavy material. I've never seen it's equal as far as strength. It also looks good when your done. It takes a scaffold builder to understand that last line. Everyone else would say "What?" Got to roll. Build High, Build Strong. Paul
